Nelson Mandela International Day has enjoyed 10 years of global support and solidarity since it was launched in 2009. Here at Guest Resource Services, we are proud to celebrate this day in honour of the late Nelson Mandela, who was born on this day; July 18, 1918. This day is to celebrate his legacy, as one of the best Presidents South Africa has had the privilege of knowing. He had a determination to end the Apartheid regime, to see a better society built on equality and freedom. We thank you Mr Mandela, you would be proud to see how far South Africa has come.
We wanted to celebrate this day, so, our trainers organised that our learners participate in the day by helping out our community. Our trainers resolutely planned the day, each with their own activity for their training group. Here are what our trainers and their students got up to for the day:
Trainer: Johan Venter
Training Group: Academy Brushware and SLS Holdings (Business Admin NQF4)
Johan decided to take his students to Akasia Primary School, where they cleaned the premises along with the learners from the Primary School. It was a very uplifting experience to see the difference they had made, and it was an inspiring experience for the Primary School students to be part of it.
Trainers: Allois, Sarah, Ephraim and Mmushi
These trainers took their Learners to Senior 2000, which is an old age home. They brought with them some oranges, which they distributed to the elderly. The seniors were very grateful for the time and effort that the trainers and students put in.
The above picture shows some of our proud trainers. Well done to everyone who was involved! Here at Guest, we considered this day to be a great success, and a very gratifying experience for all. We look forward to see what the trainers come up with for next year.
